For 1st time in more than 6 months, used-vehicle inventories are virtually flat in days’ supply; Reflects both tighter inventory control by medium and large used-car dealers as well as somewhat slower floor traffic for used cars; It has also resulted in softening prices at wholesale.
Independent Dealers on Verge of Suffering Another Monthly Setback in Sales:
First 18 days of May showed Independent used-car sellers trailing year-ago volumes by more than 12%.
Used Vehicle Transaction Prices for Franchised Dealers Down 1.8% from April:
Represents slight decline in share of asking prices dealers are able to get.
Long-Term Trendline Shows Ever Upward Premium Being Paid for CPO Units:
Decline in April CPO sales largely attributed to increased price differential over same-vehicle Non-CPO models.
