California wants to see a certain level of plug-in electric vehicle sales happen in the state this year, and has become more flexible about it, allowing OEMs to trade credits to meet the regulations. Nissan is letting competitor colleagues know that its willing to sell credits earned through sales of its Leaf electric car. Tesla Motors already sold some credits to Honda, and Coda Automotive may enter the credit trading venue… A consumer group is worried about Google’s motives as the corporation backs up driverless car initiatives in Nevada and California. Advocacy group Consumer Watchdog is waiving its flag with concern that Google is more interested in mining and monetizing personal data than in reducing collisions and vehicle emissions. The group has sent a letter to California Assembly Speaker John Perez asking the state to regulate driverless cars and protect consumer privacy.
