Kooner Fleet Management Solutions helps fleets improve uptime. For fleet leaders, preventative maintenance is no longer just a best practice. It’s a critical part of operational performance.

Unexpected breakdowns impact far more than repair costs. They disrupt routes, sideline drivers, create customer service issues, increase CSA exposure, and put pressure on already tight margins.

The fleets performing best today are shifting away from reactive maintenance models and investing in more proactive maintenance strategies designed to reduce downtime before failures happen.

The Future of Fleet

By Drake Bauer, CEO & Co-Founder, Proaction

The daily work of fleet operations encompasses managing maintenance, compliance, fuel, inspections, safety, EV readiness, and driver communication across a patchwork of systems.

The future of fleet is about giving operators the flexibility to combine trusted service relationships with technology.

The next chapter of fleet management will be defined by connecting what already works with tools that make it faster, clearer, and more adaptable.

That is Proaction’s biggest value proposition: an operating layer for fleet work that consolidates data, automates routine processes, and helps teams act before small issues become expensive ones.

Vehicle Safety

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is releasing results of its first evaluations of commercial vehicles.

Four of the first nine heavy-duty pickups and cargo vans to be assessed come with a suite of features that IIHS considers essential for driver protection — including standard front and side airbags, advanced seat belt technology and effective seat belt reminders.

Two of the three pickups evaluated — the Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD and Ford F350 SuperCrew — check all the boxes for driver protection.

The Ram 3500 comes with the necessary airbags and key seat belt technologies but lacks an effective seat belt reminder.

Amazon Now Has Over 50,000 Electric Delivery Vans In Its Fleet

Amazon now has over 50,000 electric vans delivering parcels across the globe. The company has pledged to have 100,000 electric delivery vehicles on the road by 2030.

The firm hasn’t detailed exactly what brands and models it is using to deliver packages in its global operations, but we know from previous reports that the majority of electric vans in Amazon’s fleet were made by Rivian.

In addition to the tens of thousands of Rivian-made vans, the vast majority of which are roaming American roads, Amazon ended 2025 with over 10,000 battery-powered delivery vans in Europe, where it and its partners boosted their EV fleet significantly.

Crash Study Finds Women Face 60% Higher Injury Risk in Cars

Cars have become dramatically safer recently, but according to a new study from Graz University of Technology proves women are not benefiting equally.

Researchers analyzed Austrian crash data from 2012 through 2024 to reconstruct real-world accidents. They found that female occupants face a 60% greater injury risk compared to men, even in lower-speed impacts.

Studies confirm that 95% of actual women are physically larger than that outdated reference point. Women are also more likely to sit in the passenger seat and recline further back. This relaxed posture severely reduces the effectiveness of standard airbags and seatbelts.

China’s EV Shift Cut Pollution Enough to Prevent 262,000 Deaths

China’s rapid switch to electric and other new energy vehicles, cut urban air pollution enough to prevent an estimated 262,000 premature deaths, according to a new peer-reviewed study published in Nature Health.

The study used high-resolution satellite air-quality data and machine learning to measure pollution across 150 Chinese cities.

By 2023, the spread of new energy vehicles (NEVs) was linked to a 23.80% reduction in fine particulate matter (PM2.5), a drop of 8.97 micrograms per cubic meter. Carbon monoxide fell even further, down 30.67%.

JD Power data indicates that approximately one‑third of auto insurance shoppers now turn to artificial intelligence (AI) tools when comparing coverage.

Even as competition intensifies and prices ease, an increase in customer satisfaction is being held back by insurers’ inability to deliver seamless interactions.

Merchants Fleet

By Fleet Management Weekly Staff

Merchants Fleet CEO Matt Dyer believes the fleet industry is being challenged to maintain something increasingly important: Human connection.

As fleets navigate rising costs, growing operational complexity, and increasing pressure around utilization and total cost of ownership, the industry has understandably focused on technology, efficiency, and scale.

Fleet operations now involve managing more data, more decisions, and more transactions than ever before. Those things matter. However, the reality is that top quality fleet management has always been rooted in partnership.
