NASCAR fans would like to see its nation reduce foreign oil imports, practice environmental responsibility, and create green job opportunities, according to Michael Lynch, NASCAR managing director of green innovation. Along with getting race cars to run on 15% ethanol and for its race tracks to adopt sustainability initiatives, the organization has partnered with Environmental Protection Agency on a memorandum of understanding. Under the agreement, NASCAR will use products that have earned EPA’s Design for the Environment (DfE) label at racing events. The DfE label tells consumers that, according to the EPA, the product performs well, is cost effective and safer for the environment.
