NAFA Remembers Windell Mitchell With One Of The Association’s Highest Honors
Last October, NAFA Fleet Management Association lost one of its dearest members. The passing of Windell “Win” Mitchell saddened the fleet management industry, as he was a friend and mentor to many. In honor of Win’s work with the Association over the years, NAFA’s Board of Trustees voted to recognize him with a posthumous Honorary Membership – one of NAFA’s most prestigious honors – during the Annual Business Meeting on April 23, 2013.
Mitchell had a long and illustrious career within fleet management. He won the Larry Goill Memorial Quality Fleet Management Idea Award twice (in 1993 and 2001) and was named Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year in 2008 by Government Fleet magazine. For three consecutive years, his department (King County Fleet Administration Division) was among the top three fleets in the 100 Best Fleets in North America Program. In fact, during his 32 years in public service, he received nearly every award and accolade offered by the industry. Learn more
NAFA Introduces Club NAFA To Recognize Long-Standing Association Members
Great associations depend on the hard work and voluntarism of their membership. Far too often, members who were instrumental to an association’s early success are forgotten in their later years. NAFA Fleet Management Association is determined to not only remember its history, but to recognize and promote the Members who helped create that history. To accomplish this goal, the Association has created Club NAFA – a place for those who have been members of NAFA for 30 years or more. NAFA is honored to have over 60 members currently in Club NAFA.
“Club NAFA members have played important roles in the history of the association and in the history of fleet management as well,” said NAFA’s Executive Director Phillip E. Russo, CAE. “It’s important for NAFA to not only recognize these folks, but to begin utilizing the vast wealth of knowledge and experience that these long-standing members hold.” Learn more
