Two new studies conducted by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and Old Dominion University validate the effectiveness of intersection surveillance cameras. The NHTSA says more than 850 people die and 170,000 are injured annually in crashes caused by drivers running red lights. Researchers in the recent studies found a drastic drop in violations after red-light cameras were installed.
