Remarketers have seen the used vehicle process change dramatically in the past couple of years with upstream channels, diverse online auctions, and mobile applications playing an increasingly important part of process.
Manheim has been on the front line with mobile. Check out this video interview with Rumon Lasker, Senior Project Manager at Manheim, where he talks about how his company has incorporated mobile into each aspect of the remarketing journey.
That comes down to three phases of vehicle remarketing through auctions – buying, selling, and managing inventory
1. Buying – Remarketers can use mobile for being in two places at the same time. You can stand in one auction lane and bid, and use your mobile device to bid for another car at another auction lane at the same time.
2. Selling – You can list and sell your vehicles through myMobile on Manheim. Customers can take pictures and videos of their vehicles from their mobile device and list them on Manheim’s OVE.com online auction in real time.
3. Managing Inventory – Manheim offers a mobile solution for that part of the process, too. Manheim recently added the My Purchases feature for mobile devices, where you can use your mobile device to see all the vehicles you’ve bought in the last 30 days. Details include vehicle statuses, title, and payment information.
Mobile is making a huge difference for Manheim, Lasker said. Manheim has about one million visits a month on mobile platforms that customers are using. About 47% of all Manheim users are now mobile users as well. Mobile cannot be ignored anymore by the remarketing business.
