A researcher at the Hamburg University of Technology has published a scientific paper showing that Google’s real-time traffic service can be hacked using false floating car data. Google and community traffic app Wave seem to be more at risk than traditional commercial real-time traffic providers such as Inrix, Navteq, and Mediamobile. Their diversified devices and partners make such hacks more difficult to implement.
