Last year Ford replaced its popular Crown Victoria Police Interceptor model with the Taurus and Explorer. The 3.5-liter Taurus and Explorer engine gets 35% better mileage than the Crown Vic’s 4.6-liter V-8 and the 3.7-liter does 32% better. With gas costs at $4.00/gallon, Ford says law enforcement departments with 100 vehicles will realize annual savings of $153,300.
