Manufacturers are perfecting technology to detect alcohol on the skin surface, but the battle for mandated use in cars is still being waged. Once considered radical, use of ignition interlock devices that won’t allow a car to be started if a driver has had too much alcohol no longer seems out of the question and has been endorsed by MADD.
