Automakers are making a big deal out of advertising that they’ve joined the 40 mpg club in EPA mileage ratings. This might mean only a 40 or more mpg rating in highway, and not necessarily in city and combined ratings. It does seem to be the current benchmark for meeting increasing fuel economy standards.
