Total used sales were off less than one percent – down 0.72% in January 2014 vs. a year ago mainly in states that suffered from severe weather conditions during. For used retail vehicles sold in January 2014, it came in at 2,337,941; in January 2013 the sales figure came in at 2,354,927.

Franchised Dealers had a 2.4% Gain – 851,116 vs. 831,155 a Year Ago:
Independents down 0.57% at 823,945 and Private Party Up 4.6% at 695,087.
Franchised Sees Biggest Gains in Transaction Prices – $13,512 vs. $12,666:
Private Party Up to $7,285 from $6,746 and Independents down to $6,718 from $6,873.
Number of Sub-550 FICO Score Consumers Grew Over Last Year:
In January 2014 they made up 20.65% of total used sales vs. 15.01% in January 2013.
