Managing a service fleet often means serving many customers. There are the manager’s primary customers, the vehicle’s users, but also the user’s supervisor, executive management and, ultimately, the paying customer.
For George Survant, senior director-fleet for telecommunications company Time Warner Cable, successful fleet management is always about the basics.
“Reliability is the finest thing a fleet manager can do for his customers,” Survant said. “I try to focus on seeing that a fleet is highly reliable, available and responsive when needed, that it requires a minimal amount of maintenance support and [doesn’t] need a lot of spare equipment.”
