Sandy Leonard, City of Auburn Fleet Division Manager Named NAFA’s Regional Trustee, Central Region

Sandy Leonard, Division Manager of Fleet Services for the City of Auburn, Alabama, has been tapped to become NAFA Fleet Management Association’s Central Region Trustee, effective immediately. He succeeds Michele Ryan, CAFM®, who resigned the position on August 23, citing a new non-fleet employment opportunity as the primary factor. Leonard has been a Member of NAFA since 2002.

“We are excited to have Sandy Leonard take over the Trustee position overseeing NAFA’s Central Region,” said NAFA’s Chief Executive Officer, Phillip E. Russo, CAE. “NAFA also thanks Michele Ryan for her dedication to NAFA over the past six years. She has been a committed volunteer and a sterling example of NAFA’s enduring service to law enforcement fleets, and vice versa.”

Dedicating their time and knowledge to making the Association successful, NAFA’s Regional Trustees have oversight of NAFA’s chapters, ensuring the Association’s mission and vision are implemented.

Regarding his appointment, Leonard said, “I will attempt to continue to bring passion and the willingness to learn and disseminate the information to (NAFA’s) Central Region’s chapters. (I will) assist NAFA Trustees and staff to cast the vision and represent NAFA with loyalty and character.”

Ryan has accepted a newly created position within the St Louis County Police Departments Office of Emergency Management, as the Logistics Specialist. Ryan said this is a role she has occupied during times of emergency in the St Louis area for many years but, “…after the episodes of civil unrest in the area, the Police Department/Office of Emergency Management chose to make it a permanent position.”

Of Leonard’s appointment as her successor, Ryan said, “Sandy will be a fantastic addition to the Board of Trustees. Through many conversations over the years, I have come to know Sandy as a hardworking, earnest man with a passion for this business. The Central Region will be in very capable hands.”

Russo said of Ryan, “Throughout her time in fleet — and certainly in the past couple of years — Ryan has proven herself to be the picture of grace under pressure. She has been an asset to her peers and to NAFA, and we wish her only the best in her new life beyond fleet.”

“While I am looking forward to this new adventure, I will truly miss my NAFA fleet family,” Ryan added. “This is a unique and brilliant group of professionals who have helped guide me through my last 14 years in this industry.”
