April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, but for fleet managers, distraction isn’t confined to a calendar window. It’s a year-round challenge—and one of the most persistent contributors to crashes, near misses, and rising liability.
Despite hands-free laws, company policies, and widespread awareness, distraction remains stubbornly embedded in modern driving. The reason? Distraction is less about devices and more about human behavior.
Distraction often isn’t intentional—it’s habitual. Quick glances, multitasking under pressure, or overconfidence in one’s ability to “handle it” all play a role. Without addressing the psychology behind distraction, enforcement alone rarely changes behavior.
Mentor by eDriving helps fleets identify distraction trends through behavioral analysis. Rather than labeling drivers as “unsafe,” the platform enables constructive conversations grounded in data—creating opportunities for learning.

People. Connection. Promises.
|
|
By Steve Bender, CEO and Owner, Fleet Street Remarketing
When our marketing team sat down to discuss our 2026 campaign, it didn’t take long to focus on what we believe matters most in fleet: The importance of PEOPLE. The power of human CONNECTION. The imperative to keep our PROMISES.
In my opinion, it was a gutsy call—especially given the explosion of technology in fleet, a phenomenon that is no doubt helping usher in the next great age of the industry.
In a business where our customers are routinely recognized for their excellence, where my colleagues average nearly 20 years of experience, and where people rallied around my family during our darkest days, I’m certain focusing on PEOPLE, CONNECTIONS, and PROMISES is exactly right.
When you work with the right PEOPLE and trust in the power of human CONNECTION, it’s easy to keep your PROMISES.

Integrated Fleet Planning
|
|
By Cyndi Brandt, VP Fleet Solutions at Descartes
Over the past decade, fleets have invested heavily in routing platforms, telematics, dispatch systems and planning tools.
While each delivers value on its own, fleet operations can still struggle with inconsistent performance, rising costs and driver dissatisfaction. For example, a route that appears efficient in a planning system may require last-minute dispatch changes due to route constraints or driver availability, ultimately increasing miles, delaying deliveries and creating payroll discrepancies.
To overcome these challenges, leading fleets are shifting toward an integrated planning model—one that connects everything from long-term route design to driver pay in unified, continuous workflows.
By bringing fleet planning and execution into a single environment from route design through dispatch and into driver pay, fleets are better positioned to improve performance, control costs, and create a more consistent experience for drivers.
