Group 1 Automotive in Houston is having an experience other dealers are going through around the country – new and used car prices are close enough that they’re competing with each other for sales. Thanks to incentives, discount finance dealers, and competition among dealers, new car transaction prices are softening enough to be highly competitive with used cars, said Earl Hesterberg, CEO of Group 1 Automotive. While used car prices are down from cyclical highs, they’re still high enough to face more direct competition with new.
