Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) just held its Drive Safely Work Week 2013 with the theme of “Gear Up for Safe Driving: Mind • Body • Vehicle.” More than 2,500 organizations and about 13 million employees participated in the activity that promotes safe-driving education and awareness educational materials for employees and their families. NETS member companies collectively operate more than a half million vehicles that travel more than 10 million miles globally each year. In the US, employers have the opportunity to reach more than half of all the drivers on the roads – and even more when their family members are included in the educational information.
This year’s campaign took a holistic approach to safe driving that highlights how being at your physical and mental best – along with the “health” of your vehicle – are all part of safe driving. Campaign materials offer simple, actionable steps and cover tips for getting better sleep; the importance of regular vision screening; strategic ways to use rest breaks to sustain energy and focus; and making sure drivers have the right fit to their vehicle and that the vehicle is fit for a safe trip.
Board member companies include AmeriFleet Transportation, UPS, and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Check out the NETS website for more information.
