NAFA Expands Sustainability Mission With Training Event In California

NAFA Fleet Management Association, a pioneer in the sustainable fleet movement, will be leading a Sustainable Fleet Training Day event during the Northern California Clean Technology Forum & Equipment Expo in Sacramento, CA on October 19.

This half-day event builds upon the Association’s ambitious sustainability objectives which includes NAFA’s influential Sustainable Fleet Accreditation Program, developed in collaboration with CALSTART. This program currently comprises 22 accredited fleets and an additional 20 enrollees.

“NAFA has a responsibility to make sure fleet professionals are equipped to do better in every facet of their work,” said NAFA Chief Executive Officer Phillip E. Russo, CAE.

“Sustainability affects every part of what fleet managers do, so I’m pleased to say we’re about to take this next great step forward our Sustainable Fleet Training Day event and the upcoming Sustainable Fleet Webinar Series.”

NAFA’s Sustainable Fleet Training Day will bring proven, actionable strategies to participants. The agenda will be conducted by NAFA Past President Claude T. Masters, CAFM®, a long-time champion for sustainable practices and formerly of Florida Power & Light. Masters brings a wealth of knowledge to the session topics “Building the Foundation for a Sustainable Fleet” and “Sustainable Leadership and Change Management.” Various case studies, techniques, and training modules will be presented.

The agenda will educate attendees on:

• How to write a Sustainable Fleet Plan

• How to develop policies and procedures

• Examples of sustainable fleet initiatives

• What tools are required to promote sustainability

• How to design and implement change strategies

The training event for fleet professionals marks a bold next step for NAFA’s sustainability mission. In addition, NAFA is presenting a new Sustainable Fleet Webinar Series which consists of six one-hour presentations designed to educate fleet professionals on how to create a sustainable fleet program. The series was developed through a partnership with NAFA, CALSTART, and NC State University. This course is designed to educate fleet professionals in proven methods to develop sustainable fleet initiatives, providing the tools and skills that help them succeed in their sustainability goals.

“NAFA is given a responsibility and a privilege to share this information with our industry. We can make a real difference with regard to where we live and how we work,” Russo added. “We can help fleet professionals be more aware of their current processes while having proven, actionable strategies to do even better. NAFA’s Sustainable Fleet Training Day is a tremendous first step to quantifiable, positive change.”
