NAFA and CALSTART Offering Special Sustainability Sessions
At NAFA’s 2013 Institute & Expo (I&E), which takes place April 23-26 at the Atlantic City Convention Center, sustainability education will reach a new level thanks to special sessions designed by CALSTART, an organization dedicated to the growth of a clean transportation technologies industry. The program will include the following four brand new sessions: “Alternative Fuels and High-Efficiency Vehicles – Update for Fleets” – This session will provide a valuable ten-thousand foot overview of what these technologies and fuels can mean to fleet operations. “Myths, Facts, and Misperceptions – The Straight Scoop on New Fuels and Tech” – There are many questions, myths, and misperceptions that surround advanced vehicles and fuels. “Smart Alt Fuel and Tech Choice Workshop — Making it Work for You” – As fleets implement sustainability and fleet greening plans, how do they make the best choice of fuel or technology that fits their operation, geography, and vehicle mix? “Fleet Sustainability/Greening – The Key Steps to Plan your Path” – There are smart actions that fleets can take to put them on the right path, while saving them time and money.

Kia Partners with B.R.A.K.E.S. on Teen Driver Safety Program
Kia Motors America (KMA) recently partnered with B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible And Keep Everyone Safe) Teen Pro Active Driving Course to provide more than 150 teenagers ranging in ages 15 1/2 to 19 with advanced training to respond to real-world driving scenarios. B.R.A.K.E.S., with KMA’s support — which included a fleet of 2013 Kia Rios — provided the instruction at no cost in an effort to prevent injuries and save lives by educating teens and their parents about the importance of responsible driving habits. The school offers nearly four hours of hands-on training and a very low student-instructor ratio to ensure personal attention. The curriculum includes an array of defensive driving techniques and raises awareness of the dangers of distracted driving.
