Smooth Sailing: As August continues the summer trend of stable fuel prices at $3.44, folks across the U.S. appear to be making one final push in vacation travels before the academic year, with Motus tracking lower business mileage across most regions versus July.
Data from Motus shows that national fuel prices stayed consistent at $3.44 in August compared to 3.43 in July, and was lower than last year in August 2023 when it was at $3.85.
Looking regionally, fuel prices in August were highest in the western US at $4.01 and lowest in the Southern US at $3.14.
Looking at August business mileage trends by region in the US, business mileage in the South and Midwest was 6% lower than July, while mileage was also 11% lower in the Northeast and 10% lower in the West.
