Motus CEO Craig Powell Recognized in Best in Biz Awards 2018 International

Motus CEO Craig Powell was named Executive of the Year – Medium and Large Companies category in the Best in Biz Awards 2018 International. Best in Biz, which honors companies, teams, executives, and products worldwide for their business successes, recognized Craig for leading Motus through a successful merger and acquisition of Runzheimer to turn the company into the dominant market platform for cutting-edge mobile workforce solutions.

Craig was selected based on his visionary leadership both prior to and following the merger and acquisition. As more people take to the road to do their jobs, traditional fleet management solutions and expense solutions are falling short for mobile professionals and the companies that employ them. Craig recognized this need early on and led his team to develop and release several innovative solutions to serve the needs of the addressable $2B fleet market. The list is extensive, but recent innovations include:

  • First-of-its-kind integration of beacon technology to significantly reduce battery drain for its mileage tracking mobile app
  • The Motus Software Development Kit (SDK), extending mileage tracking and vehicle program management capabilities to third-party software providers
  • Motus Driver Safety Solutions to reduce collision rates and keep drivers safe
  • A compliance-focused reimbursement program called Motus Delivery Rates, specifically for the on-demand delivery services industry
  • The Motus Policy & Compliance Board to help customers successfully navigate today’s dynamic legal, tax, and economic landscapes with top expert guidance

Integrating Runzheimer’s 80+ years of expertise and world-class customer base with these cutting-edge Motus innovations better enables customers to use the extensive data the Motus platform sits on to gather information about their mobile workforce expenses – everything from fuel consumption to driver safety – and drive down costs.

Craig believes that a successful leader is also someone that focuses beyond the metrics of a business, recognizing that it takes a hard-working team committed to the company’s mission to truly drive the bottom line forward. This is why Craig prioritizes making WorkLife better for both Motus users and its own team members. His philosophy carries through in the Motus culture, where he’s implemented policies and perks that include a proprietary performance management system, career advancement initiatives, sponsored gym memberships, unlimited vacation, philanthropy days, events with American heroes, student loan reimbursement and The Motus Leadership Academy. Initiatives like these establish Motus as a place where employees want to work because they are empowered by company leadership to continuously grow and succeed within their own personal careers and as active contributors to a winning team and culture.

“It is very humbling to be recognized internationally by Best in Biz as an Executive of the Year, but the reality is that this recognition is not representative of the work of any single individual, but the outcome of a dedicated team of colleagues that care deeply about our customers, the innovations we bring to market and, most importantly, one another,” said Craig. “To make great things happen for our customers, we first need to make sure our own team members feel like they are empowered to do meaningful work and that they understand why and how their contributions matter. My goal is to help each of our individual team members achieve the very best version of themselves, creating an environment that results in inspiring the very best version of our leadership team, so that we can collectively succeed at work and in life, every day.”

Close to 300 public and private companies from all sectors of the global economy and more than 35 countries competed in Best in Biz Awards’ 6th annual International program. Winners were determined based on scoring from an independent panel of judges hailing from a wide spectrum of top-tier publications and media outlets and from 12 countries. Each year, only editors, writers, and contributors to business, consumer, financial, trade and technology publications, as well as broadcast outlets and analyst firms, are invited to serve as judges in Best in Biz Awards.

“It was a great honor and privilege to be asked to judge at the Best in Biz Awards 2018 International,” said Joe Pettit, managing editor of Tripwire, judging the awards for the third time. “The level of entries was even higher than in previous years – which made it such a difficult task to select a top three, let alone a winner. What a lot of the entrants are doing for their stakeholders is extremely admirable. Being in business isn’t about profit, it’s about changing lives for the better, which is clearly the case with the entries this year. Congratulations to all.”

This is the second time Craig has received industry accolades for his leadership. He was previously named a winner of a Stevie® Award for Executive of the Year in the Computer Services category in the 16th Annual American Business Awards.
