Harsh winter weather didn’t push used vehicle prices off their typical January pattern; prices were essentially flat at just 0.1% relative to December. In fact, it was the third highest figure ever recorded in the NADA’s seasonally adjusted used vehicle price index. It was unchanged in January at 124.6, which tied with two other months (August 2013 and December 2013) as the third highest figure ever recorded in the NADA index.

Price Movement for Majority of Segments Fell in Tight Range of – 0.3% to 0.4%:
Compact utility, large SUV and mid-size van prices dropping slightly, while compact car, large pickup and mid- size utility prices inched up.
Luxury Car and Utility Prices Saw Seasonal Norm with 0.9% and 1.1% Declines:
Luxury car losses had notable one percentage point improvement over December’s 2.1% drop.
Used Vehicle Prices Are Expected to Climb by 2.1% in February:
Prices could climb marginally in March before falling the remainder of the year.
