Driving Dynamics Inc. announced Carl Cormier, senior driving instructor for the company, will present: “The Brave New World of Technology and Driver Safety: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” on Wednesday, November 20th from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. at the upcoming utility fleet conference.
His session will focus on educating participants about the safety challenges utility fleet drivers face in an era of emerging technologies and how these new tools and systems can help and potentially hurt fleets from a liability perspective. Cormier will conclude the session with best practices on how utility fleet and safety departments can decrease overall vehicle incident rates.
Session Description:
“We’re experiencing drastic changes in how we conduct our lives, with technology becoming more imbedded in our daily routines. So, what impact are these trends having on your organization’s safety performance?”
- The Good: The emergence of artificial intelligence, advanced driver assist systems (ADAS), and other technologies that promise greater efficiency and improved safety.
- The Bad: Over-reliance and over-confidence in today’s technologies, which can lead to riskier driving behaviors.
- The Ugly: We’re easily distracted behind the wheel, and everything we do today is recorded in way that increases liability for employers.
Cormier will also be a panelist for “Navigating Driver Safety Challenges in an Era of “Safer” Vehicles.” Joined by two other industry experts, they will discuss the current state of vehicle safety technologies and how fleets and drivers can navigate around the unintended safety challenges these vehicle systems may be creating. The panel discussion takes place on Wednesday, November 20th from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
