Spireon Launches Real-Time Tracking for 2022 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree

Spireon, a Solera company, in partnership with the nonprofit Choose Outdoors, is launching its annual real-time tracking of the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree as it travels this holiday season.

The tree will be harvested from the National Forests in North Carolina and end its journey on the West Lawn of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. Spireon’s FleetLocate®  trailer management solution will track the tree’s GPS location and you can follow it at www.capitoltreetracker.com.

“We’re thrilled to support this unique tradition that celebrates both the season and our nation’s forests. The joy this event spreads throughout communities is always inspiring, and we are so proud our products get to be a part of it.”

“Being part of the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree’s journey is always a highlight of the year for us,” said Roni Taylor, SVP of Strategy and Business Development for Spireon. “We’re thrilled to support this unique tradition that celebrates both the season and our nation’s forests. The joy this event spreads throughout communities is always inspiring, and we are so proud our products get to be a part of it.”

Every year since 1970, the USDA Forest Service has provided a tree from one of the national forests to be placed on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol building. This year, a 78-foot tall Red Spruce will be sourced from the forested slopes of Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina.

The official send-off will take place at the WNC Agricultural Center in Fletcher, North Carolina on November 5. A series of community celebrations will be held as the tree makes its way through the region, making stops in North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland. Well-wishers will have a chance to sign banners on the truck’s sides, learn more about national forests, and shop for U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree merchandise. The tour will culminate with the official tree lighting on the Capitol’s West Lawn on November 18.

Spireon’s FL Flex 2 telematics device was chosen because of its versatile functionality and ability to support a wide range of assets. Spireon is uniquely able to track any type of trailer from dry vans and refrigerated trailers to the specialty flatbed needed to ship oversized cargo like the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree. By live tracking the tree’s journey with GPS, Spireon provides a means for local communities along the tree’s whistle-stop route to line the streets and welcome the tree as it passes through.
