Permaseal Global Brings Eco-Friendly Tire Sealant and Innovative Solutions to Fleets

Permaseal Global Brings Eco-Friendly Tire Sealant and Innovative Solutions to Fleets

By FMW Staff

July 12, 2023

Permaseal Global is transforming fleet operations with its groundbreaking, eco-friendly tire sealant, hailed as the world’s first of its kind.

With EPA, DOT, and California Prop 65 compliance, Permaseal sets a new standard by eliminating hazardous chemicals from their programs and products. Endorsed by renowned tire manufacturers like Goodyear, their sealant not only prevents flat tires from punctures, but is the first of its kind to be used in the recapping and retraining process.

Permaseal offers an additional range of innovative products, including a game-changing fuel treatment that enhances fuel economy and reduces maintenance costs, as well as catalytic converter protection and a digital HR program.

Fleet Management Weekly recently had the opportunity to interview Matt Thomas, one of the co-owners of Permaseal Global. Together with co-owner Timothy Brock, Thomas has brought to market solutions that redefine fleet efficiency, sustainability, and cost savings for fleets. Here is what we learned from our interview:

Tell us about the Permaseal Global Tire Sealant. How does it benefit fleets?

Permaseal offers the first eco-friendly tire sealant in the history of the world. We are EPA, DOT, and California Prop 65 compliant. We have no hazardous chemicals at all in our programs or our products. We’re also the only tire sealant program that is approved and endorsed by any tire manufacturers, including Goodyear.  This is for two reasons. The first is how our product works and what it does. The second is that we’re the only tire product that’s been approved for use in the recapping and retraining process, since we’re non-combustible or flammable.

We made sure that we brought to market a program that doesn’t require special tools or equipment, isn’t hazardous, and doesn’t require any specialty cleanup.  It’s an inert neutral base with about 65 different nanocomponents in it.  Those are nanoparticles in nanotubes, which are all engineered to do different things. Since there’s no glue, a certain number of them are engineered to bond to the inner liner and the casing of the tire.  Some of them keep it where it’s unable to freeze, and some of them make sure it maintains and improves tire balance and tire wear.  It hydrodynamically balances tires as you move.

We’re also the only ones in the industry to ever guarantee what we do.  We guarantee that you can’t get flat tires against punctures up to a half inch in the entire tire–all of the tread, the crown and shoulder, the sidewalls and blowouts.  We’re so confident in it that we’re insured and backed domestically by an A-plus rated insurance carrier.  This makes it so that, in the commercial space, we can set up a warranty program for our fleet clients from one to eight years and we’ll pay up to $6,000 in claims.

Ultimately, our product virtually eliminates our clients’ need to replace any tires. We increase the life expectancy and use case of our clients’ tires by 25% and improve their fuel economy by 5%. The only time they spend money on tires is when the tread wears out.

What other solutions does Permaseal Global offer fleets?

Permaseal Global owns a holding company that offers several products and programs designed for retail operators, but also specifically in the fleet space. In addition to our tire program, we have a fuel treatment that’s the only one of its kind.  There are over 5,000 fuel additives in the market, but ours is an actual fuel treatment and nano product, just like our tire program. It changes the way the fuel burns in engines. It works in gasoline, so fleets can use lower octane gas at the pump because it’ll change the octane level by four full points.

It’s especially helpful for fleets with diesel, which is everything from trucks to drilling operations to static machines.  We increase their fuel economy by 10%, reduce their DEF consumption by 50%, and reduce their death particular filter (DPF) maintenance by 50%. Injector maintenance, EGR maintenance, everything from the tank to the exhaust–we reduce all that maintenance cost by 50%, and that makes it burn clearer.

For a lot of our fleets, both the fuel economy savings and reduction in maintenance expense are huge for them. But many of them are also chasing a carbon footprint rating. With a better or reduced carbon footprint, they can get certain grants and gain access to different things. So, we’ve had great success with that. Our fuel treatment is in everything from municipalities to national drilling operations to global oil manufacturers.

We’ve also come to market with the only catalytic converter protection product that makes sense to us.  There are a couple of catalytic converter anti-theft devices on the market, but they require a great deal of labor and they’re very expensive.  Fleets have to watch their budgets just like everyone, so we brought to market a program that’s a bit more affordable.  We etch a permanent number that’s pre-registered with the National Insurance Crime Bureau onto the catalytic converters, which makes them unsellable.

To make sure that they’re protected, we have two programs: a three-year and a five-year program.  Most of our clients do the five-year program where if their catalytic converter is stolen within five years, they’ll be reimbursed and paid up to $6,000 to replace the converters and repair any damage that was done to the vehicle in the process.

The last thing we have is a digital HR program that’s done wonders for municipalities, businesses, and all sorts of verticals.  It’s a digital HR protection program for businesses to ensure that they can’t get sued.  If there ever is an issue, it documents everything properly and it’ll protect them through the entire legal process.  It protects them in the event that an employee is trying to take advantage of them, or if they’re relying on someone who maybe isn’t the most trained HR professional to do everything with 100% compliance.

Can you tell us a little bit more about your digital HR program?

The digital HR establishes the company’s affirmative defense. By that I mean a couple of things. The first is having a program in place to handle discrimination situations. Second is having an 800 hotline that the employees can call anonymously to report such situations.  Third is having video documentation of each situation to accurately record the situation as soon as it happens. Finally, in follow-up, having a quarterly questionnaire soliciting indications of discrimination. The follow-up then provides them with continued protection and education.
