Only in Fleet: Interactive Storytelling at AFLA This Year

by Katie Keeton, AFLA Vice President

How often do you find yourself in a situation where all you can do is shake your head, shrug your shoulders, and think, “this could only happen in fleet”? Our industry is full of unique and ever-changing situations that help us grow, learn and move the industry forward. We all have a full arsenal of quips, situations and other on-the-job snippets, which we have learned from and have shaped us into the corporate fleet professionals we are today. AFLA’s 50 year history is full of personalities, situations and stories, and the same is true for our current members and industry future.

At this year’s AFLA conference we are excited to bring the interactive storytelling session “Only In Fleet,” which gives the audience a chance to participate, network and learn together from our collective experiences. This session will give you the opportunity to listen, laugh (and shudder) along with your colleagues – or you can throw your name in the hat to be a potential speaker! Storytellers are not selected in advance… anything could happen! The theme of the stories for the event is “Only in Fleet.” Each storyteller will be strictly limited to 5 minutes. The session emcee(s) will pull a name out of the hat, and the show (and stories) will go on!

The rules: Everyone has a story and we can’t wait to hear yours! When choosing a story to share, keep in mind that AFLA is a forum for true stories, not stand-up comedy, pontification, political diatribes, poetry or fiction. No sales pitches are allowed – please save those for other venues and bring us your great stories. We also do not allow props or notes, because we want your story to stand on its own.

Get ready to share and learn in a unique and fun environment at AFLA 2019! Register online today at afla.org/AFLA2019.
