According to research by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, about 46 percent of all crashes involving bad weather take place during the winter.

Winter storms, bad weather, and sloppy road conditions are a factor in nearly half a million crashes and more than 2,000 road deaths every year. And December through March can be an especially busy time for dead batteries, flat tires, and vehicle extractions. With inclement weather in the forecast, AAA East Central advises motorists to take precautions to avoid deadly crashes and reach their destination safely.

Used Work Vehicles

By Bill Bishop, SVP of Sales and Marketing, FLD Remarketing

I’ve stated in the last few years, global and industry factors mean that the jury is still out on the year ahead. That’s simply because the world we live in can change in an instant.

Now that fleets can start to sell aging units, those vehicles are worth nowhere near the same amount they were a year ago, and in some cases can’t even be sold at any price. So – where do we go from here?

Regardless of where things are headed in 2024, our team at FLD is looking forward to what’s in store. Our only goal is to help make your life easier while saving you a meaningful amount of time, money and resources.

If we were to give fleets one piece of remarketing advice as we head into 2024: Don’t wait to sell used assets.

Minnesota Drivers Experience the Least Road Rage in America

Road rage is a fact of being behind the wheel, but it’s much worse in some states than in others. Combined data from several sources created a list of the states with the worst road rage.

While Arizona, Montana, and South Carolina were the worst offenders in the country, a few states stuck out on the opposite end of the spectrum. Minnesota drivers experienced the least road rage, followed by Hawaii and New Hampshire.

Some states have hefty penalties for aggressive driving, such as California, where drivers can face up to four years in jail. Arizona, the worst state in the study, has a maximum jail sentence of six months.

USPS Unveils E-Transit Parcel Delivery Vans and Charging Infrastructure Plans

The United States Postal Service unveiled its first set of electric vehicle charging stations at its South Atlanta Sorting and Delivery Center.

Charging stations like these, manufactured by Seimens, will be installed at hundreds of new Centers across the country throughout the year and will power what will be the nation’s largest EV fleet.

USPS plans on procuring a total of 21,000 EVs — including 9,250 from Ford — depending on market availability and operational feasibility.

The US Treasury Just Released EV Charger Tax Credit Guidance – Here’s How to Find Out if You Qualify

The US Treasury’s EV charger tax credit is limited to $1,000 for individuals claiming for home EV charging and $100,000 – up from $30,000 – for business properties. That came into effect on January 1, 2023.

The IRS’s latest guidance is about how in order to qualify for the 30C EV charging tax credit, individuals and businesses need to be in an “eligible census tract.” The IRS defines an eligible census tract as “any population census tract that qualifies as a low-income community or that is not an urban area.”

People Who Drive Trucks For A Living Really Like Driving Electric Trucks

Gary LaBush is a driver for Frito-Lay in Queens. He remembers the first time he sat behind the wheel of a Ford e-Transit delivery truck. Like most first time EV truck drivers, he wondered if the vehicle was actually on. “I was like, ‘What’s going on?’” he recalled. “There was no noise and no fumes.”

Now, he trains other drivers how to operate the company’s delivery trucks. He said he would struggle if he had to return to driving a gasoline powered van. “I wouldn’t want to do it,” he said. “After being in this — it’s just night and day.”
