FORTUNE: ARI ‘A Great Place to Work’

Ortell_Carl

ARI was named to FORTUNE’s 2014 100 Best Companies to Work For® list for the second year in a row. The company, which came in at number 70 last year, moved up on the list to number 27 this year. ARI was the only fleet management company and only one of two companies in the Philadelphia region to be named to this annual list that recognizes companies that have exceptional workplace cultures.

“We are so proud to be a part of this prestigious list for the second year in a row,” said ARI President Carl A. Ortell. “Without question, our greatest asset is our people – they are the most important part of our business and critical to our overall success, which is why we continually strive to create an environment that is supportive and open, provide work that is interesting and engaging, and offer opportunities for growth and development.”

In addition to being recognized for its family-like culture, its internal employee engagement and empowerment program Partners in Excellence®, and its emphasis on employee development, the company was lauded for the year-end bonus that all employees receive, which can be the equivalent of up to 15 days’ pay, and the fact that the company has never had a layoff in its 65 year history.

Ortell continued, “We were incredibly honored to be a part of last year’s list, but also saw it as a challenge to improve what we were doing so that we would remain one of FORTUNE’s 100 Best Companies to Work For and be the kind of company where an individual can build a satisfying and fulfilling career. We know that by doing this, we are making a solid investment in our long-term success and that our customers will benefit.”

ARI was selected from among hundreds of companies vying for a place on the list this year. Applicant companies opt to participate in the selection process, which includes an employee survey and an in-depth questionnaire about their programs and company practices. Great Place to Work® then evaluates each application using its unique methodology based on five dimensions: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie. The creators of the list, Great Place to Work, has found that employees believe they work for great organizations when they consistently trust the people they work for, have pride in what they do and enjoy the people they work with.

“The companies on this list understand the role that people and culture play in their success,” offered China Gorman, CEO of Great Place to Work. “A great workplace culture and high-trust work environment win these companies not just a spot on this list, but buoys their overall success in an increasingly competitive marketplace.”

ARI seeks to foster a supportive, family-like environment and actively nurtures the skills that support its core competencies: flexible fleet management, high-quality customer service and best-in-the-business vehicle knowledge. ARI encourages an atmosphere of teamwork by supporting programs and initiatives that foster communication and recognition.
