
Ford says it will double the number of 40+ mpg model offerings by the end of this year – eight vehicle choices will be on the market soon. Along with that, Ford is set to triple its electrified vehicle production capacity by sometime next year with six models on the market. Ramping up production of its fuel efficient EcoBoost engines is part of the company’s green strategy – by 2013, the company thinks it can produce 1.6 million of these engines annually, about 100,000 units above its original target. The new Taurus with its 2.0L EcoBoost gets 32 mpg, considered the best-in-class large sedan for city and highway fuel economy by the EPA.
