Antonellis to Discuss Strategic Perspectives on Leveraging Trusted Data to Navigate Highway Disruptions and Improve Freight Operations
Fleet Advantage, a leading innovator in specialty financing, fleet data analytics, fleet management services, and life cycle cost management, announced that Brian Antonellis, CTP, Senior Vice President of Fleet Operations, has been named a panelist for a webinar hosted by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), titled “Freight in Focus: Advancing Disruption Response Using Data.” The session, the second webinar in FHWA’s six-part Managing Disruptions to Operations Data Exchange (MDODE) series, will be held on Tuesday, July 15, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm ET.
Brian’s invitation to speak on the webinar was prompted by his insightful commentary in Fleet Owner on the use of operational data in freight planning, specifically his discussion of how fleets can identify and exploit “unsuspecting” data sources to enhance routing decisions and operational resilience. His expertise aligns closely with FHWA’s mission to improve commercial freight mobility through standardized access to trusted, agency-owned disruption data.
Antonellis will discuss how commercial fleets can leverage critical data from Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs), including truck utilization, maintenance trends, and safety performance, as a strategic resource for DOT data exchanges. This type of operational intelligence can help inform fleet decisions around routing, asset management, and vehicle specifications, ultimately reducing breakdowns and safety risks on the highway. He will also address how aggregated ELD data can provide predictive insight into component failures, helping fleets proactively avoid roadside disruptions.
He will also participate in a panel Q&A session alongside esteemed industry colleagues, including Alix Miller, Ph.D., President & CEO of the Florida Trucking Association, and Steve McKeta, Senior Director of Private Fleet Maintenance at Walmart.
Together, the panel will explore critical questions such as:
- What benefits and obstacles exist with a national-level data exchange on nonrecurring highway events?
- How can high-quality agency-owned disruption data help fleets address operational challenges?
- What are best practices for sharing and consuming trusted data on the road?
- How would participation in an agency data exchange interact with existing fleet systems and protocols?
“As highway disruptions continue to escalate, access to reliable, validated data is becoming a competitive imperative for organizations with transportation fleets,” said Brian Holland, President and CEO of Fleet Advantage. “Brian has consistently demonstrated how fleets can turn data into actionable advantage, and his participation with MDODE reflects a broader push toward smarter, safer, and more efficient freight operations nationwide.”
Antonellis will also provide insights on how strategic data collection from ELDs and maintenance systems can shape three-to-five-year capital planning strategies, improve uptime, and minimize risk across diverse geographic and weather conditions.
FHWA’s MDODE program is actively working with state DOTs and stakeholders to enhance the content, quality, and security of disruption data for a national-scale exchange. The insights delivered by this webinar will inform the ongoing refinement of tools and standards for managing nonrecurring events across the U.S. road network.
