eDriving Announces Shift-Based Scoring and Customizable New Features in Award-Winning Driver Safety App, Mentor

Cape May, New Jersey – [August 31, 2020] – eDrivingSM, a global provider of driver risk management solutions, has announced the introduction of shift-based scoring and configurable features in the latest update to its award-winning driver safety app, Mentor by eDrivingSM.

Mentor is a smartphone-based solution that collects and analyzes driver behaviors most predictive of crash risk and helps remediate risky behavior by providing engaging, interactive micro-training modules delivered directly to the driver in the smartphone app. As a result of eDriving’s partnership with industry analytics leader FICO®, driver on-road performance is converted into an individual FICO® Safe Driving Score, which has been validated to predict the likelihood of a driver being involved in a collision.

The addition of shift-based scoring is a significant development for the company’s last mile distribution, delivery, and service clients, where the ability to identify and analyze driver behavior over full shifts, rather than individual trips, is important.

Shift-based scoring is just one of the customizable options now available, in addition to Driver Event Reporting (DER) and Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).

DER is an in-app reporting tool that makes it easy for Sales, Service, and Delivery teams to complete and submit to employers, accident management partners, and insurers all the required information and photographic evidence required to aid the driver risk management process and minimize total collision costs. Research has shown that the key to sustained behavior change behind the wheel is effective engagement with a driver as soon as possible after a collision. Analysis also shows that if an organization can start the claims process with their insurance partner in under 30 days, the total claims cost can be reduced by up to 40 percent. DER facilitates both through completion of a single report directly from Mentor.

DVIR is an in-app checklist that guides drivers through daily inspection of their vehicles before and after their appointments/routes, prompting for issues that can be reported directly to the customers’ Fleet Management Partner for prompt attention, minimizing vehicle downtime.

“The ability to customize Mentor to suit individual organizations’ activities is a game-changer for driver risk management,” said Ed Dubens, Founder/CEO of eDriving. “Mentor’s new flexibility, and the option to select shift-based or trip-based scoring, as well as DER and/or DVIR enables Sales, Service and Delivery clients globally to tailor the program to their unique requirements while benefitting from eDriving’s holistic, proven closed-loop solution.”

The latest Mentor updates are included in the Mentor for Business App release – iOS V 2.58, Android V 2.58.
