NAFA Fleet Management Association was proud to help promote the Drive Safely Work Week annual safety campaign presented by the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS), and which took place October 1-5, 2012. Drive Safely Work Week encourages businesses to utilize a free campaign toolkit to help educate employees on the importance of always buckling up for safety. The statistics on seat belt safety are alarming, including results from a recent Harris poll – for example, more than one-third of all drivers admit to texting and driving and two-thirds of all drivers admit to talking on a cell phone while driving.
The toolkit features facts on seat belts, interactive quizzes and tools, daily activities and communication messages, and downloadable posters for the office. Along with a focus on using seat belts, NETS Drive Safely Work Week also discusses the importance of staying distraction-free while driving; parking safely, with awareness to your surroundings; and the dangers of fatigued driving. The campaign toolkit may be downloaded for free at www.trafficsafety.org. Safe driving is essential to the fleet managers who belong to NAFA, which has lent its support to the annual campaign for the past several years.
