Nissan and Hyundai are among automakers willing to putting fuel-cell vehicles into production. The benefits are there, such as producing a zero emission vehicle that can be refueled in minutes, versus hours for the electric vehicle. On the downside, it requires a lot of energy to free up the gas from the chemical form, distributing hydrogen is technically complex and lacks mass infrastructure, and fuel cells remain expensive and difficult to mass produce.
