Work fleets are the backbone of American life.
According to the Bureau of Transportation Safety, trucks moved roughly 80% of all American goods by weight and value in 2024 while accounting for 79.3% of all interstate trade. The Bureau also reports that work vehicles dominate the supply chain, representing the number one way to ship all of the top country’s top 10 commodities.
To be sure, America’s need for work vehicles and equipment has never been stronger – and by most accounts – getting even more so. Driven by post-pandemic consumption, it requires everything from millions of vans to deliver goods and services to massive Class 8 semis that ferry cargo across the country’s superhighways.
Without work fleets, the American way of life would grind to a halt.
At the same time, America’s work fleets have never been older, with the average age of a Class 3-8 vehicle standing at between 11 and 12 years old, according to Bureau statistics. With little doubt, there are likely more high mileage work vehicles plying America’s roads than at any time in our country’s history.
But as new vehicle availability recovers after falling to the scourge of Covid, and interest rates take their first breather in years, it’s likely that American companies will look to replenish their aging work fleets over the coming years – albeit perhaps with less vigor than in the past. Given this scenario, where can smart work fleets turn to sell their aging vehicles and equipment quickly and easily for the highest return on their investment with the least amount of risk?
The answer is especially crucial in a world where work vehicles have become increasingly more sophisticated and are often decked out with expensive upfitting and equipment that represent a significant investment for their owners. And all of these owners are looking for ways to control cost while saving time, money, and resources.
After all, remarketing work assets is not the same as remarketing passenger cars. It requires a partner with a unique understanding of the work assets themselves, as well as the wholesale market – one with years of experience.
The Undisputed Leader of Work Fleet Remarketing
At FLD, we understand the challenges today’s work fleets face when it comes to remarketing. That’s because remarketing work vehicles and equipment is essentially all we do – or have ever done – representing over 95% of our remarketing transactions.
We’re work fleet experts – our entire team is dedicated to truly understanding the sophisticated nature of today’s work vehicles and equipment. And to offering our customers the fastest, easiest way to sell them in one seamless, seriously simple transaction that saves a significant amount of time, money and resources while helping them get back to more important things sooner.
Recently, we took the time here at FLD and got together to distill what makes our work fleet offering the best in the industry. During the process we learned some important things about ourselves and how we help our customers thrive. Now, after much work and introspection, we’re excited to launch a new campaign in today’s issue of Fleet Management Weekly – one that highlights exactly why smart work fleets should partner with FLD!
TRUST. KNOWLEDGE. THE FLD WAY!
A Partner and Process Customers Can Trust
Lots of remarketers talk a great game when it comes to remarketing valuable work vehicles and equipment. But the simple fact is, most of them are likely doing little more than taking units to auction and selling them for whatever price they can get, often with little regard for their true value. This cuts customer profit by often leaving thousands of dollars on the table while exposing them to unnecessary risk. This is something we’d never do at FLD.
Why?
Besides being work fleet experts, we strive to be good people first. And to build genuine relationships with our customers that last years. Fleets know they not only can count on FLD, but that they can trust us to do the right thing. Our longevity means we’ll be there for customers today, tomorrow and for years to come. Just like we have for the better part of five decades. We’re consistent. Our management team averages over 30 years, and many of our associates have been with the company for 20, 30 and even 40 years.
Our process – which is focused on helping customers do more with less – is consistently reviewed and improved. We’re transparent, putting control of the remarketing process directly in the hands of our customers with an intuitive, free app – OVRView – that lets them manage remarketing in real time from any device, anytime, anywhere in the world. This ensures a positive, trustworthy experience and gives our customers the peace of mind to focus on achieving their most important goals.
Knowledge Gained Through Over Hundreds of Thousands of Transactions
Understanding the intricate nature of work vehicles and equipment is something we focus on here at FLD – a lot. That’s because despite already being seen as remarketing’s work fleet leader, we’re always striving to learn more and to get better at what we do.
This means developing industry leading innovations – like remarketing’s first-ever online condition report and first app – that simplifies the way work gets done while improving our customer’s lives. In fact, everyone at TeamFLD is dedicated to being fleet’s definitive work fleet remarketing leader. And to maintaining that edge.
That edge starts with our world class Condition Report team, with over 20 years of work fleet experience each – they are the best in the work fleet world. It’s their job to assess every work vehicle or piece of equipment that comes into our orbit. Experts all, there’s no team better at understanding work vehicles and equipment and the best way to maximize their value during the remarketing process.
Curating and demonstrating our knowledge through thought leadership is also an important part of our work fleet efforts. We are recognized for publishing fleet’s definitive guide to the wholesale used work vehicle market – the free, quarterly White Metal Market Report, which is written by our respected industry expert Bill Bishop, SVP of Sales and Marketing, and now in its 9th year of publication.
As further proof of desire to better understand all things work fleet, we also compile a quarterly Work Fleet Manager Sentiment Index, which tracks how top work fleet managers feel about a rotating basket of 7 topics including safety, fuel costs and more.
Perhaps most important, we keep our finger on the pulse of the work fleet space at all times. This includes not only developing an active network of industry experts and influencers but staying in close contact with our unsurpassed Customer Advisory Board.
This is a collection of the work fleet world’s top fleet managers that includes senior executives from Fortune 200, multi-national powerhouses and even small, local mom and pop operations – all of whom eagerly share the actionable insights and industry knowledge we need to continually refine the best work fleet remarketing offering on the planet.
