In the evolving digital innovation landscape, my role as the Chief Digital Officer has positioned me at the heart of transforming how artificial intelligence (AI), particularly machine learning, is being leveraged to address some of the fleet industry’s most pressing challenges. Our goal at Wheels is to enable success for our clients, while my job is to do this by creating a truly digital business experience for them.
Artificial Intelligence: Beyond the Hype
It’s no secret that a cloud of hype often surrounds AI. Despite this, the technology’s real, tangible applications can be groundbreaking. At the heart of AI’s promise is machine learning – a discipline that enables computers to learn from data, make decisions, and potentially take actions without being explicitly programmed for each instance. This innovation is one of the foundations upon which Wheels is building safe solutions that streamline operations and prepare for challenges before they arise.
Real-World Fleet Applications
At Wheels, we’ve already launched two AI-driven solutions—one focusing on maintenance processes and the other on driver solutions. These initiatives are just the tip of the iceberg. With numerous proofs of concept (POCs) on the roadmap and a robust backlog of potential applications, Wheels is on the path to transforming the fleet industry’s landscape.
One POC project that stands out is the Expired Registration Prediction Engine Initiative, which will tackle one of the fleet industry’s most significant hurdles: vehicle renewals. By breaking down the challenge into manageable components and leveraging machine learning, we will be taking incremental steps to solve one of the industry’s most challenging obstacles with impressive precision.

The insights gained from our AI initiatives offer a blueprint for enhancing renewal processes and tackling other complex challenges within the fleet industry. By continually refining our models and incorporating feedback from the field, Wheels is unlocking new efficiencies and driving the industry forward.
