DC faster chargers was a hot topic at EVS26 and new offerings were on display in the exhibit hall, including ECOtality’s Blink DC fast charger. Schneider Electric launched its EVlink DC Quick Charger. It’s part of Schneider Electric’s line of EV charging stations, and broadens the company’s reach to public parking, shopping malls, gas stations, rest stops, fleets, car sharing, and car rental. While not long ago, DC fast chargers were expected to be a blip on the screen for the US market, that has started to change.
With states like California promoting the use of EVs, there’s been more incentive for manufacturers to make fast chargers, and for installation to take place. Providers are looking at all sorts of revenue building operators that are being implemented by property managers, including brief commercials being displayed on charging station screens. With easy access to fast and reliable chargers, people will be more comfortable buying and driving EV’s Schneider Electric’s Director of Electric Vehicles, Power Business Mike Calise said.
