New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has a $19 million initiative for the New York Truck Voucher Incentive Program for clean trucks. It has an emphasis on electric vehicles, but it also provides funds for natural gas vehicles, and for the installation of diesel particulate filters.
About $9 million for battery-electric trucks is being made available immediately via vouchers in 30 counties around the state that did not meet federal clean air standards. A $10 million alternative fuels voucher and diesel retrofit funding for New York City will be rolled out late this month and in September, respectively. The voucher has gained support to reduce the incremental costs of bringing in more clean trucks and buses to the state. Calstart, based in Pasadena, Calif., is helping administer the program.
