We recall an incident several years ago where an intoxicated driver of a company van killed a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The Fortune 500 firm had never checked his MVR. If they had, they would have found that his license had been revoked because of a previous drunk driving arrest. The settlement, of course, was substantial but, more tragically, a life was lost.
