Fuel economy for new vehicles sold in the US is a full mile higher than it was a year ago, according to the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute. It remains at the same level as October – 24.1 mpg – which is up from September’s 23.8 mpg average. The numbers have improved despite the fact that Hyundai and Kia have had to scale back their mileage claim.
