When we talked with Tim Tay­lor, Chief Client Suc­cess Offi­cer at Tel­o­gis, we asked him to give us his thoughts on the value propo­si­tion for fleets con­sid­er­ing telem­at­ics solu­tions, and how quickly a fleet can see a return on investment.

“I see com­pa­nies under­stand­ing that in the era of the ‘con­nected every­thing,’ the Inter­net of things, the cus­tomer can get bet­ter vis­i­bil­ity and the sup­plier can pro­vide a bet­ter ser­vice when mul­ti­ple things are con­nected; the job for the cus­tomer, the tablet for the worker, the ERP sys­tem for the com­pany, and what the vehi­cle is doing. In that inter­con­nect­ed­ness we keep improv­ing things and mak­ing them more effi­cient. It is very powerful.

“We say: if you can mea­sure it you can man­age it. When you con­nect things and you pro­vide a score­card the com­pany starts chang­ing behav­ior. We see cus­tomers trans­formed in a mat­ter of three or four months. Lit­er­ally, they will save the money that they invest in a mat­ter of months. If it takes more than six months I would be sur­prised. It is a mat­ter of being com­mit­ted to using the infor­ma­tion, hav­ing exec­u­tive spon­sor­ship and a team that engages — and then you launch.”

NADA released the sec­ond install­ment of its Per­spec­tive detail­ing reten­tion per­for­mance of three-year-old used mod­els with the focus being on light duty trucks and SUVs – and tak­ing a look at hybrid SUVs and trucks. The high­est retain­ing seg­ment was large pick­ups at 62.5%, and the low­est retain­ing seg­ment was mid-size vans at 49.2%.
